Several non-league clubs are preparing to ask the FA for permission to switch home FA Cup ties to the venues of Premier League opponents, following the abolition of replays. The issue gained prominence after National League side Tamworth, denied a replay with Tottenham despite forcing extra time, saw their chance for a significant payday vanish. Previously, a 0-0 draw after 90 minutes would have earned them a replay at Spurs’ ground. However, the abolition of replays now means the smaller club missed out on a vital cash boost.

While the FA is open to feedback at the end of this year's competition, insiders suggest it’s highly unlikely that such venue switches will be allowed, citing concerns over the integrity of the competition. Currently, venue switches are only permitted for safety reasons, and the view remains that altering this rule could undermine the competition’s fairness.
