United States into the semifinals :
Coco Gaff and Taylor Fritz propelled the United States into the semifinals of the United Cup mixed teams tennis tournament in Australia on Wednesday. In the opening singles match in Perth, Gaff initiated her team's success with a hard-fought 7-6 (4), 6-2 victory over Zhang Shay. Fritz then secured the win by narrowly defeating Zhang Shenzhen with a score of 6-4, 6-4.
Ranked No. 3 in the world, Gaff remarked, "Shay was playing exceptional tennis out there. I found myself on the ground for much of the match. The harder I struck, the harder she responded. I felt unable to put her on the defensive. She was so aggressive, which forced me to take more risks with my second serves, leading to more double faults. However, when I managed to keep it in play, it often resulted in a return winner, so I had to seize my opportunities."
Kazakhstan also progressed to the semifinals, achieving a 2-1 victory over Germany, who were without their injured world No. 2, Alexander Verve.
Verve withdrew at the last moment due to a biceps injury, having been set to compete against Alexander Shevchenko. Kazakhstan was already leading the tie 1-0 after Elena Rybakova's 6-3, 6-1 win over Laura Sigmund. In Sydney, IA Sweater and Hubert Horace secured a decisive mixed doubles victory against the Czech Republic, allowing Poland to advance to the quarterfinals. World No. 2 Sweater and Horace triumphed over Tomas Macho and Karolina Much ova with a score of 7-6 (3), 6-3 in the final match at Sydney's Ken Rose wall Arena. The Polish duo initially led 5-2 before the Czechs made a comeback in the first set.
Earlier in the singles matches, Mache put the Czech Republic ahead with a 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 win over Horace, but Saitek leveled the tie with a 6-3, 6-4 victory against Much ova. Additionally, in Sydney, Katie Bolter’s 6-2, 6-1 win over Australia's Olivia Adecco secured Britain's place in the quarterfinals. Bolter entered the match knowing that a straight-sets victory would guarantee Britain's advancement
